We are honored to share that Forbes recently named our Merlot as one of the Best Wines for Autumn 2021! Please find the article here
In addition to that honor, our Merlot is always a staff and winemaker favorite but Richie Allen, our Vice President of Viticulture and Winemaking, recently described the 2018 Merlot as being “the best Merlot we’ve ever made,” a bold statement but one with which we agree.
There are many factors that go into that assertion, but, as always, our winemaking starts in the vineyard. 2018 was an exceptional year that created a wine that is balanced and delightfully drinkable.
The 2018 vintage has complex aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and mocha which intertwine with subtle notes of violet and mint. Its medium body has plush tannins and bright acidity.
This wine is extraordinarily food-friendly, pairing with everything from seafood gumbo to a rack of lamb. We also recommend a glass by itself in the cool evening autumn air.
