Joan Rombauer - I Rombauer Vineyards I Napa Valley

Joan Rombauer

If Koerner is the soul of Rombauer Vineyards, Joan is the heart. When she co-founded the winery with her husband, she was the mother of two children who became the ultimate juggler, spending 12 years at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars through the 1980s as National Sales Director. Returning to Rombauer in 1993, she was the winery’s finest ambassador and spokesperson, lending her warmth and creative flair to everything she did. Unfortunately, she left us too soon, in 2002, but she will always be our inspiration, at the heart of Rombauer Vineyards. Before her death from pancreatic cancer, Joan worked tirelessly to support other cancer patients. Her efforts live on in the form of two endowments totaling $4 million in support of the Rombauer Pancreatic Research Fund and the Rombauer Family Distinguished Professorship in Pancreas Cancer Clinical and Translational Science, both at the University of California, San Francisco.
