Prepare a hot, two-zone charcoal grill or preheat a gas grill on high for 10 minutes. If you using a gas grill, reduce the heat on one side to low.
Place fresh sausages on the cool side of the grill. Cover the grill and cook until they are firm and register an internal temperature of 160F, about 8 minutes for a 1-inch thick sausage.
Move them to the hot side of the grill and cook them until nicely browned, turning occasionally.
